We’re chuffed to be able to provide Team Jewson MI Racing with a number of our Nomad 18 V portable pressure washers; with around 50 riders in the multidiscipline team and the kind of conditions they’ve already all had to endure this year, they’re a welcome addition to the team vans. Team Jewson MI Racing is managed by cycling legend Mick Ives and is based in Coventry. It’s packed with extremely talented riders and we expect to see them in the headlines throughout 2013. Photos show members of the team at the team’s 2013 launch at Coventry Transport Museum on 16 March. For more information about Mike Ives’s team, take a look their website here www.miracing.co.uk

Nomad’s 3rd season at Belton Horse Trials – 12 -14 April.
We’re delighted to be joining forces again with Bede events when we attend our 3rd Belton Horse Trials incorporating the Grantham Cup next weekends.
This year, as in the past, we will be providing a horse wash facility at the end of the cross country stages giving you the perfect opportunity to try out our new updated washer. Depending on the conditions we’ll be filling them with either cool or warm water so your horse can have the perfect shower. If you see one of our washers, grab it and give it a go. We’ll be on hand to give you help and advice if needed.
We’ll also have stock of the new washer with the new Lithium Ion batteries for sale in the exhibitors’ area. Pop by and have a chat.
Nomad 18 V – Now With New Li-ion Cordless Power!
The world’s first cordless pressure washer has just got even better!
And now the wait is finally over!!
The Nomad 18 V cordless portable pressure washer can be purchased with a high quality Li-ion (Lithium ion) battery, with all the advantages that brings with it, the main ones being it runs the washer for longer and also at a constant/maximum pressure without the rolling off in pressure that the NiCad battery exhibited as it was running down.

The Li-ion battery also has a built in fuel gauge – just press the button on the side of it to see the level of charge via a traffic light style system of; green (fully charged), amber (partly discharged) and red (very low/flat). Li-ion batteries do not suffer from “memory” problems unlike NiCads when batteries are not fully discharged before recharging, plus Li-ions also have a much slower self discharge time – i.e. they stay charged for longer before they need topping up – many weeks/months.

Another improvement to the product is that the mains charger is now different and charges not only the new Li-ion Battery but also the NiCad battery – hence the name Dual Chemistry Charger. Each time a battery is placed in the charger it is tested prior to charging and any faults highlighted to the user. Please note that whilst NiCad batteries can be charged in the Dual Chemistry Charger a Li-ion battery CANNOT be charged in NiCad charger.

Note. Existing Nomad 18 V NiCad owners can purchase an upgrade kit that includes a Li-ion battery (N105) and dual chemistry charger (N117). The upgrade kit has the part number NN105N117 and can be found by following this link.
Other changes to the New Nomad 18 V are:
- The new spray gun has an improved latching mechanism
- The hose also has the same latching improvements to the end that connects to the washer
- The washer outlet washer has been replaced by a new semi-internal o-ring
- The power cord with car adapter is no longer shipped with the washer as the internal connector has now been removed.
Available in either Orange or Green colour ways. Click this link to buy.

Rolling Out The Big Guns
Whilst the standard Nomad spray gun is very good, especially with the later up rated latching mechanism and further improved spray pattern, we have over the years been asked many times by our commercial and leisure customers for some alternative spray guns and even lances. Help in getting to hard to reach places, stopping having to bend down to get to ground level, reaching inside things and stopping getting covered in splash-back are some of the requests we have recieved. Help is now at hand!
So here we have three stock solutions along with the ability to produce custom versions to your specific requirements. All are hand built in the UK using high quality off the shelf parts and fully pressure tested prior to shipping. A full range of spares are kept in stock along with full workshop facilities for any servicing/repairs that may be required.
Leisure or Light Commercial Use Telescopic Lance

This lightweight extending lance is ideal for spraying water from the Nomad 18 V portable washer into hard to reach places. In its short form (as pictured above) its approximately 500mm (20”) longer than the normal Nomad spray gun, fully extended by twisting a collar and extending it out, its 810mm (32”) longer. A simple on/off trigger stops and start the water flow just like the normal Nomad spray gun. The nozzle is adjustable and twisting it alters the spray pattern from a wide angle cone to a fine pencil jet – just like the standard Nomad spray gun. The lance connects to the end of the standard Nomad 6M (20’) hose via a 300mm (12”) hose tail so it can be simply interchanged with the standard Nomad spray gun – so it can be used without any modification to the Nomad washer or Nomad hose.
For price, availability and to buy follow this link.
Commercial and Rugged Use Lance

Available with or without a Quick Release (QR) lance this spray gun/lance assembly uses high quality commercial jet washer/steam cleaner parts. The QR version (pictured above) is about 660mm (26”) longer and the fixed version – non QR- is approximately 580mm (23”) longer than a standard Nomad spray gun. The lance has a hollow plastic covering on it to aid comfort when using your other hand to steady it, with the QR version it also allows you to rotate the angled end or the nozzle to get into awkward places whilst allowing the user to disconnect the lance from the trigger assembly for easier storage.
The high precision machine nozzle jet has a nozzle guard to stop what you are washing down to be scratched with. The standard spray pattern selected is a 15 degree fan, this is ideal for rinsing down cars, caravans, bikes and many other items. Wider spray patterns are available via special order. The trigger assembly is a high quality part rated 4000 psi, 25 litres/minute and 150 degree Celsius – more than enough for the Nomad 18 V!
Again the lance assembly connects to the end of the standard Nomad 6M (20’) hose via a 300mm (12”) hose tail so it can be simply interchanged with the standard Nomad spray gun – so it can be used without any modification to the Nomad washer or Nomad hose.

Please note that none of these lances increases the water pressure of the water spray and even though the commercial versions use high pressure/temperature components the in-hose pressure is still approximately 98 psi and not hundreds or thousands of psi like commercial jet washers. These lances are designed to make hard to reach places easier to get to or move you further away from any splash back. Rest assured saying all of that the Nomad 18 V is still the highest pressure portable pressure washer available on the UK market today.
For price, availability of the QR version (Prt. No. N2200) as pictured above and to buy follow this link.
For price, availability of the non-QR version (Prt. No. N2100) and to buy follow this link.

See you at the Cycle Show – Birmingham NEC – 28 – 30 September 2012. Hall 9 Stand M53

Time to update our blog. Not that we’ve been doing nothing since May. Indeed we had a great Mountain Mayhem (if you can call being pushed and towed off a field fun) that, owing to the hideous weather, resulted in a sell out.
Since then we’ve been meeting customers in the motorhome market, gaining new customers in the Middle East and getting our plans for the autumn and winter underway, with some exciting developments. More news as we have it.
So, our next stop is the Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham. See us in Hall 9 on stand M53 just next to the BMX demo track, Pump Track and the Mtb Demo Area.
If you’ve not tried a Nomad before, come and try one on the trade stand or if you are borrowing a Mtb to use on the outdoor test track you can have a go with one in the Bike Wash we have been asked to run in conjunction with Firecrest Mtb and Ducksmart. There, you will see how good the Nomads really are – perfect for washing bikes, not too powerful to do any damage to seals and bearings, but plenty of energy and adjustability to get in all the right places. You can even wash yourself down!

Dare2b Mountain Bike Demo Track
If you already have a Nomad then there are some nice accessories available on the stand including a Garden Hose Adapter so you can connect the Nomad Hose to hundreds of HozelockTM type fittings and products, extra batteries, In-car Quick Chargers and our luxury Cosy Cover for keeping the water warm for the post ride wash down of yourself back at the car.

Always happy to chat and answers any questions, so why not come and see why the Nomad is the best: superior build quality, simplicity of use, enhanced power, quicker and better cleaning. Plus it’s very quiet.

We are running a show promotion and will have stock to take away over the 4 days, all major credit and debit cards accepted.
See you soon.

Garden Hose In-line Adapter – allows you connect 100’s of items to the Nomad

Ever wanted to use you Nomad Portable Pressure washer with something else other than the spray gun supplied with it – well now you can.
By simply connecting the normal Nomad hose to your Nomad 18 V or 12 V washer and attaching the new Garden Hose In-line Adapter, you can now connect HozelockTM/garden hose style products to your Nomad hose.
Simple but very effective, connect the adapter in line and a whole world of options opens up.
Over the years we have been asked many times if we have an adapter to allow customers to connect wash brushes, shampoo spray heads, pole brushes, water heaters and many other items to our washers. As engineers we initially took the long hard path to try and provide an integrated bonded connector, but time, money and concerns over potential quality issues lead us finally to the cheaper, but more effective route. As ever there are normally two ways to solve a problem, an expensive way and a cheap way…

Whether you need the model with the control valve (Part Number N400) will depend on what you wish to connect you Nomad to and whether you want to remotely turn the water flow on/off. The standard In-line Adapter is just a straight through connection (Part Number N300) and has no control valve, so to turn the water flow off you just need to turn the Nomad off at its switch. Note the image above is for the N300 (this has no control valve), the image below is the N400 with teh control valve (tap).

We have also selected a very high quality wash brush that can be connceted via the garden hose adapter that is included with it, this is part number N600.

We build and test the adapters in house and will undertake custom adapters if required. Please email us at service@nomad-direct.co.uk or call us on 0845 680 5043 to see if we can help in any way.

Peterborough Motorhome Show 27 – 29 April.
The rain poured and poured and poured. And the wind blew and shook the event over Saturday night.
But, despite the appalling conditions, there was a fantastic spirit of helpfulness among the traders on Sunday as it became apparent that the day was going to be a virtual write-off. Everyone mucked in, helped steady easy-ups and looked after each other. Thanks for the coffees, Jude!
Thanks also to the customers who trudged through streams of water and across mud in the off chance that we would still be there to buy a Nomad.
So the weekend was definitely not lost. In addition to the direct sales we gained two new resellers: Navarac in Leicestershire (mobile caravan and motorhome servicing, call Nick on 07738 715861) and Direct Leisure Repairs in Newark www.directleisurerepairs.co.uk We look forward to working with you, and see you soon!
Peterborough here we come. National Motorhome Show – 27 – 29 April

Last year’s National Motorhome Show was the first we attended, and we were so impressed we’re back again this year.
It’s amazing what you can buy for the camping and outdoor life – and it’s all here! We love having a wander around to look at the vast array of kit and gadgets available, and will try to find some time again this time.
Of course, the Nomad is a great piece of kit for this market. You want to keep your motorhome clean on the outside? Then the Nomad is spot on. With the 20 foot hose (that’s attached to the tank and so hosepipe ban friendly) you can effectively set the Nomad on the ground and clean 20 feet in one direction, and 20 feet in the other. That’s 40 feet of cleaning without having to move your water supply.
Want to keep your motorhome clean on the inside? Then use the Nomad to clean all your outdoor gear down before traipsing it inside your beautiful motorhome: boots, dogs, sticks, for example. Peterborough’s your chance to see one working – and to take advantage of our show offer. So, come and say hello. We are on stand number 200.
Go one step further. Who needs a ‘jet wash’?
Go one step further. Who needs a ‘jet wash’?

As another 17 more drought zones were yesterday officially added to those already declared, now ‘half of Britain’ is affected, and 1 in 3 households is currently affected by a hosepipe ban. So the serious side to the story is that restrictions such as hosepipe bans can save up to a tenth of the current usage. Every little helps.
We have always been selling portable washers to water boards, but sales to them are now increasing. One we asked directly stated that Nomads are totally legal to use in Hosepipe Ban Areas. Buy with confidence from us.
But here at Nomad, we think households can do themselves a big favour by ditching the ‘jet wash’ altogether. You know, the big heavy noisy things? Enough power to knock you off your feet and half way down the road?
These big jet/pressure washers are fantastically effective for many things – cleaning down patios, for example, but a Nomad does many of the household tasks very effectively and efficiently without the home-made swamp and the hit on the water bill:
Wheelie bin? Yep. No one’s got arms that touch the bottom of a wheelie bin, so the Nomad is perfect.
Garden furniture ? Child’s play.
Windows? No need to carry buckets up ladders any longer.
Plus it’s portable and you can pack it in the back of your car and find a world of uses on the go. It’s the perfect all round solution. Remember, if you need a question about the Nomad answering, send us an email or give us a call. We’re very friendly. And if you’re not happy with your Nomad, you have our money-back guarantee (see terms and conditions).
Belton International Horse Trials – Horse & Hound prize winner

Once again Belton International Horse trials was an excellent event. The weather was mixed ranging from the very cold to glorious sunshine on the last day (and a beautiful frost on the ground as we awoke on Sunday morning).
Thanks to you all you Nomad owners who came over to say ‘hello’. It’s always good to put faces to names and to help out when you forgot the battery for your Nomad portable washer. You know who you are! We’re glad to be of help even after you made a purchase.
Equally it’s great to remember faces from last season as you popped by to say how fantastic your Nomad is!
We had an excellent weekend and were delighted to provide a photo opportunity for Martine Holden. She entered a prize draw competition in Horse & Hound – and won a Nomad 18 V cordless portable washer. She was delighted with this as her grey horse kept at the Strumpshaw Riding Centre, that is near Norwich in Norfolk, needs frequent bathing. So the Nomad is the ideal bit of kit for the job. It was also a double celebration as she and her friend (pictured above) also won a competition courtesy of Bede Events to a free weekend at the trials, hotel and hospitality included. Plus the fantastic opportunity to be walked around the cross country course by Mark Phillips himself.
All in all, a great start to 2012.
